Agnieszka Slawinska began her musical education at the age of 7 by learning to play the piano and the violin. In 2003 she graduated from the Faculty of Vocal and Acting Performance at the Academy of Music in Lodz. Her class was supervised by professor Leonard Andrzej Mroz. She continued her education in Milan under the supervision of Maestra Gianfranca Ostini. She also attended master classes given by Maestra Renata Scotto, Francoise Pollet and Michel Plasson. During her studies she made her debut at the Grand Theatre in Lodz, singing the role of Cherubino in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”. After finishing her studies she was engaged for three seasons by the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. From 2006 to 2008 she was part of the Opera Studio Ensemble at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, France.
The role of Pamina in “The Magic Flute”, a more recent production by the legendary director Peter Brook, was a significant event in the soprano singer’s life. This performance, which debuted in 2011 in Paris, was awarded the French Molière Award. It enabled her to sing the role of Pamina in Milan, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo, Canada and New York.
Agnieszka Slawinska’s repertoire consists of roles such as Micaëla in G. Bizet’s “Carmen”, Ilia in “Idomeneo” (Opéra National du Rhin), Fiordiligi in “Cosi fan tutte”, (Stadttheater Bern), Pamina in “Die Zauberflote (Opera Nova)”, Musetta "La Bohème" (Opéra National du Rhin). Furthermore she appeared as Liu in “Turandot”, Lauretta in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”, Juliette in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette”, Giulietta (Opera Nova) and Antoniain Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” and Kristine in Philippe Boesmans’ “Julie”.
Her concert repertoire includes oratorios and cantatas such as : J.S. Bach’s “Magnificat”, L. Bernstein’s “Jeremiah Symphony”, J. Haydn’s “Die Jahreszeiten”, W. A. Mozart’s “Requiem”, “Exultate Jubilate” and “Mass in C Minor”, G. Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” and “Petite Messe Solenelle”, as well as Haendel’s “Laudate Pueri” and “The Choice of Hercules”.
Recent roles include : Chimène ou le Cid by Antonio Sacchini (title-role). Producers : ARCAL. Stage director Sandrine Anglade / Conductor : Julien Chauvin.Marianne in Das Liebesverbot, R. Wagner, Stage director: Mariame Clément / Conductor : Constantin Trinks. Baronne de Gondremarck in La vie parisienne, J. Offenbach (2014/2015) both at Opéra national du Rhin Strasbourg. The more she sang Ilia in Idomeneo, W.A.Mozart at Opéra National du Rhin, Strasbourg, the soprano solo part in "Et in terra pax" by Frank Martin (together with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hilversum).
Slawinska is also part of the most récent recording by Warner Classics of Hèctor Berlioz's, Les Troyens with the Orchestre Symphonique de Strasbourg conducted by Maestro John Nelson and Joyce DiDonato in the leading role.
Agnieszka Slawinska collaborates with many theatres in Europe and across the globe. These include Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg, Stadttheater in Bern, Teatro Argentina in Rome, Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Barbican Centre in London, Lincoln Center Festival New York and Opéra de Quebec ; these collaborations were met with favourable reviews by the critics.
